The Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) formerly Environmental Council of Zambia (ECZ) has shut down Ndola Lime.

ZEMA Northern Region Manager Patson Zulu has confirmed the development to Flava FM News saying the company was shut down on June 6 2011.

According to Mr. Zulu, Ndola Lime has been closed due to high levels of dust emissions that that company continues to release to the public.

Mr. Zulu tells Flava FM News that ZEMA had on a number of times engaged Ndola Lime management advising them to address the situation but to no avail.

Residents of Ndeke and Itawa in Ndola have continuously complained over pollution emissions by Ndola Lime.
