Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes has asked the Electoral Commission of Zambia to explain its decision to allow only two election agencies per polling station in this year’s elections.
In an interview with Flava fm news SACCORD Information Officer Obby Chibuluma said the move may cause unnecessary suspicion among political players and election monitoring bodies.
He said the commission needed to liaise with various stake holders before making decisions that only suit them and not other political players.
Mr. Chibuluma said it is hard to understand the congestion that the commission is alleging to curb during this year’s elections.
He further charged that Zambians may blame the commission on the out come of the elections, because many political parties and organizations are willing to monitor this year’s election.
SACCORDs comments come following Electoral Commission of Zambia Director Priscilla Isaacs remarks that the electoral body will only allow two election agencies per polling station in this year’s elections.
She explained that only one election agency would be allowed inside the polling station on the polling day adding that the two agencies would carryout the work to reduce congestion.
Mrs. Isaacs explained that this would also apply to election monitors from various political parties contesting in this year’s elections.
